What is this?

Borderline is a free daily geography game. Every day, every player in the world gets the same five countries to find on a 3D globe — three tries each, scored by how quickly you pin them down. Practice unlimited rounds by region, flags or silhouettes, or take the Learn the World path: a spaced-repetition system that schedules each country based on how well you know it, until your whole progress map glows green.

Privacy

No account, no signup. Your scores, streaks and learning progress are stored only in your browser's local storage and never leave your device.
No cookies, no identity. We use PostHog to count plays and understand which features get used (events like "daily finished" with a score). A random identifier is kept in your browser's local storage — the same place your scores live — so we can tell returning players from new ones. No cookies, no cross-site tracking, no personal data, and we honour your browser's Do Not Track setting.
No ads, no third-party trackers, no selling of anything.

Country boundaries: Natural Earth (public domain), via the world-atlas project (ISC).
Country metadata (names, flags, capitals, areas): world-countries (ODbL 1.0).
Rendering: D3 and topojson-client (ISC).

A note on borders: Borderline uses Natural Earth's de-facto boundaries. Some borders and territories are disputed; depiction here implies no political position.
